I went to HMV today and bought some CDs.
It’s been a while, I seem to be bored with all my music at the moment.
I think it’s because I listen to music all day long at work.
I used to mp3 up all my music so I had a copy of all my CDs at work.
Then I realised how boring it was having access to all my music all the time.
Plus mp3s have a strange sound that was beginning to grate on my ears.
So I deleted the lot and started bringing in CDs, 5 or 6 at a time, rotating around every week or so.
That has worked for a number of years but I am starting to get bored again.
So, I went for a top-up, so to speak, and here’s what I got.
- Illumination – Paul Weller
Heard this on a loop on the flight back from Cape Town, all Weller is good and this is no exception.
- Lost Horizons – Lemon Jelly
Also on the same loop as Weller, pretty nice chill-out.
- Cafe Cubana Cigars, Cars And Cuban Bars – Various Artists
Random cheap Latin compilation purchase, one of many for me.
- Somethin’ Else – Cannonball Adderley
I have another of his CDs and it’s a cool enough Jazz Samba like listen, this features Miles Davis though so I have high hopes.
- Diz and Getz – Dizzy Gillespie and Stan Getz
Stan Getz is flavour of the month for me, Getz/Gilberto blows me away and not owning any Dizzy I thought this might be a nice intro. Be interesting to listen to the contrast in styles of these two also.
