That Linux moment

Every now and again there will be something that I just can’t get working in Linux, and this thing will usually be something that Windows users will take for granted.

This time it was getting sound working in flash.

It seemed simple enough but it took me hours of fiddling around before I got it working.

I even broke one of my own rules and was running chmod 666 on anything sound related in /dev.

But it finally worked.

Now I can watch Hey Hey 16k and actually hear what they are singing!

I felt that rush of achievement when I got it working, but being surrounded by Windows users it wasn’t something I wanted to brag about.
