I bought a Canon 18-55 lens for my 300D on ebay recently.
This is the lens that is not for sale separately and can only be bought with the camera as a kit.
I didn’t buy that kit as I already had a 28-105 lens, however at the time I was not fully aware of the lens multiplier issue (the digital sensor is smaller than a 35mm negative so the image is multiplied by 1.6 to compensate).
The 28-105 range behaves as a 44.8-168 lens in reality, which means it’s no longer a wide-angle lens – and I miss my wide angle shots.
Now I have the 18-55 lens which behaves as a 28.8-88 lens – and weighs much less than my 28-105 into the bargain.
