This week I have been (and will be) interviewing programmers.

I have done around 20 or so interviews in the past year.

But I still feel out of my depth when I do them.

We’ve got the technical side largely sussed, which means we can usually (though not always) work out the wheat from the chaff.

But we don’t really have any means to find out if someone is going to fit into our team, ie, are they pubbable.

Of course, we could invite them down the pub, but that’s an artificial situation and you can’t read too much into it.

Any tips would be appreciated.
