Lake District Roundup

Last of my photos from the Lakes.

Aira Force waterfall, where we saw a very nice rainbow.

Then Ullswater; we suspected this was a different rainbow, but you can never be sure.

Then some lickle lambs – zoom lens in car again :-(.

Then a quick stop in the rain to take a photo from the top of a mountain pass.

Walk around Buttermere

Next batch of Lake District photos.

These are from a walk we did around Buttermere.

At the end of the walk we saw a sheep giving birth but it was too far away and I didn’t have my zoom lens handy so no photos.

After that it was off to the pub for a beer!

A goose and some sheep

Thanks to my fantastic navigation skills we took a slight detour while on the way to Buttermere.

The peak of this exciting new route was an encounter with a road full of sheep.

There was also a goose. This goose took it upon itself to stand its ground and started hissing at the sheep. This we all watched from the sanctuary of the car.

After this excitement (well, it was for us city folk anyway) we then drove through a high mountain pass – which was a different kind of excitement.

Suffice to say, we made it there in one piece.

More Richmond Park photos

I went to Richmond Park again.

Weather conditions were much the same as last week.

But I didn’t want to take more close-up photos of trees this time (well, not too many anyway).

In the week I had read an article about white balance in Practical Photography.

I was already aware that you could emulate warm-up filters using white balance but had never really tried it.

This time I decided to do so and was quite pleased with the results.

All these photos were taken with white balance set to Shade.

It was very overcast initially, but the sun came out after a while.

I left the white balance set to Shade even when the sun came out, it seemed to work well as the light was quite flat at that point.

Switzerland photos

Went to Switzerland for a few days.

It was very cold and of course it snowed.

So, here are some snowy pictures.

Rigi is a mountain we went up to see some serious snow. It was very very cold indeed.

Much time was spent in the cafe drinking coffee and looking out of the window.

I think Kulm means summit in Swiss-German.

The photos titled Glacier Express were from a train trip we took through the mountains.

London seems warm in comparison.

Rome photos

I went to Rome for the weekend. It was my first trip there and I loved it.

It is superb, I will definitely go back.

I took my camera (of course) and here are some photos.

The Alps ones were obviously taken from the plane on the way home.
